Like millions of other people around the country (and the world) we attended our local No Kings rally on Saturday afternoon. Of course I brought my camera.
I am definitely not a Royalist. In the UK we have a "king" but having a "king" is not, in my opinion, the main problem. The main problem is having a monarch who believes that they have a "divine right". Having the power to override Parliament, ignore (and be above) the nation's laws never works in the long run. Here in the UK, that problem was resolved in the mid 17th century when Charles I lost his fight with the Parliamentarians and was executed. Sadly, the monarchy was reinstated in 1660 when Charles I's son was returned to become Charles II. In the intervening 350 or so years, our monarchy's actual powers have been reduced and removed to the extent that they are figureheads. Incredibly rich figureheads and still revered by some - but still figureheads. I can fully understand why many in the USA wouldn't want Trump or any of his dynasty or acolytes as a monarch or in any position of political influence.
Brilliant! So much creativity; so much feeling; so much guts; and so much love… – people united in a cause they know is right. And your photo-journalism is brilliant! I just hope there is enough strength to make things as they should be.
Thanks for adding your thoughts Stephen. I'm an optimist at heart, so I think we will get to the other side of this. Unfortunately, the short and medium term journey is likely to be a bit tumultuous.

Flagstaff showed up. Some of my photos are here: https://www.facebook.com/share/1Cm59dp17D/ . Sometime this week I'll get a Substack post up...
That 4th one: "It's gotten so bad the introverts are here"
Crowd size was around 2,500 to 3,000 people -- about ~4 percentofthepopulation.
This is great, Todd! I love that you quoted your teen; it made me laugh.
And that last protest sign; wow!
Excellent post and fabulous pictures. Thanks for sharing.
I should have hit the teens up earlier in that morning. They are not opposed this kind of thing at all … just not with 20 minutes notice.
Yeah, I’ll bet when they saw that picture of the girl with the curse words on her butt, they wished they had gone!
lol, yep.
Love this Todd. And great photos - thanks for showing up and sharing. ✊🏼✊🏽✊🏿🇺🇸
Thanks Adrian
